The streets of Paris are lined with unlimited bakeries and dessert shops. Choosing which one to go to is no easy feat, so I decided to put together a short list of my favorite places to go to satisfy my sweet tooth.
Angelina’s hot chocolate is so rich and thick that it can basically substitute an entire meal. Going here is a must. Be sure to bring a friend because you won’t be able to finish a hot chocolate alone.
Location: various- I recommend going to the one on rue de Rivoli
What to order: le chocolat chaud à l’ancienne dit L’Africain
2. Maison Landemaine
I found this cute bakery when I was wandering the streets one morning, and I am so glad I did. They sell the best éclair ever (I have pretty high standards when it comes to éclairs, so trust me).
Location: 56 Rue de Clichy, 75009
What to order: coffee éclair
3. Aux Merveilleux de Fred
When I told my friend I was going to study abroad in Paris, she told me I HAD to go to Aux Merveilleux de Fred. They have these delicious meringue pastries that are so light and fluffy. You won’t be able to eat just one.
Location: various- I recommend 24 Rue du Pont Louis-Philippe, 75004
What to order: everything
4. Lili’s Brownies
Brownies (and all the other things they sell here) are definitely not a traditionally French dessert, but if you ever get tired of macarons and want to hide in the comfort of American sweets, Lilli’s Brownies is the place for you. I’m not gluten-free, but Lilli’s gluten free brownie is to die for. Seriously.
Location: 35 Rue du Dragon, 75006
What to order: gluten-free brownie
5. Maison Georges Larnicol
Welcome to chocolate heaven. The smell will draw you in if you are just passing by on the street. Chocolate is the one thing I cannot resist, so you can image how happy I felt walking into this shop.
What to order: anything (or everything)
6. Pierre Hermé
Forget Ladurée. Pierre Hermé has THE best macarons ever.
What to order: salted caramel macaron
7. N2 Extreme Gelato
If you are a fan of ice cream, you will love this liquid nitrogen gelato. Not only will you satisfy your sweet tooth, but you will also get the entertainment of watching them make the ice cream right in front of you. The only downside is that it is very expensive!
Location: 12 Rue des Lombards, 75004
What to order: the Ferrero
Next time you are in Paris make sure to hit some of these spots!
